  • Hello,

As the title suggests, I have a set of speakers which I would like to hook up to my computer. The problem is that they aren't normal computer speakers, they're the home entertainment type with copper wire. So far, I've been able to use the stereo out from my comp, then converting that to composite. From there, I can manually wrap the copper wire around the 2 parts of the ends of the composite cable. This works. The only problem is that it doesn't seem to have enough juice, and even when I turn the volume all the way up, it's barely enough to fill the room with sound.
    I figure I have 2 options.
1: Get some sort of audio receiver. (Expensive)
2: Find some way of giving it a little more electricity. (Dangerous)
I have tested the speakers against some M&K ones on a Denon audio receiver, and they sound just fine, as far as my inexperienced ears can tell. If you can recommend some cheap device that will solve the problem, or tell me how to properly add a little more electricity, or anything else you think might be helpful, please post.

    Please help

    Thank you

  • Unfortunately you can’t get enough levels of sound if you connect a passive speaker to a Pc. You should use an amplifier to have sound of them. And over voltage is not a solution.

Since you didn’t clearly mention which speaker you are trying to use, I am assuming you have a 2.0 stereo speaker. If you have 2.0 stereo speaker, that kind of a budget stereo amplifier may help.

I use a similar one and it is pretty awesome for the money.

But if you have a 5.1 speaker set, you should have to buy an AVR (audio video receiver - home theatre amplifier) which will be more costly. A new brand new Avr is around 150-200 $ or €. But a used one can be half price.

Since you didn’t mention your location, I can’t suggest anything else.

Also this is a Turkish forum, so you won’t get much reply or help. So I suggest you to ask the same questions in avsforums or what Hifi forums.
