I do like this one a lot, though. All of the big Istanbul clubs hate playing against Istanbul BB because it’s the sole aim of their season to beat their neighbours. They’ve always been regarded as something of a “small fry” in Super Lig terms and thus they’re gotten used to being underdogs over the years. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that they excel in such roles. They’re not particularly well-supported and they don’t have many familiar names for the masses. However, what Istanbul BB do have is a tremendous team spirit, a lot of fight, and a great deal of belief. Only Antalyaspor have got a result here this season, which was down to the finesse of Cameroonian legend Eto’o, with everybody else having lost here. Losing here is something that Galatasaray are familiar with, actually – they’ve lost three out of their last four visits here and didn’t manage to beat Istanbul BB at all last season. Istanbul BB are a very capable force collectively and usher a new level of organisation into a frankly rather disorganised Super Lig and a lot of teams find it really hard to play against them, Galatasaray included.

As if the game in itself wasn’t hard enough for Galatasaray, they have to play here having not long been home from a long trip to Kazakhstan. Despite taking the lead twice against Lokomotiv Astana, Galatasaray threw it away for a 2-2 draw as they conceded two own goals. That surmises them perfectly at the moment, to be honest. They’re lacking in confidence, and they’re the architects of their own downfall. Their new signings haven’t hit the ground running as much as they’d hoped that they would with Rodriguez yet to properly influence games, Podolski firing wildly over or wide far too often, and Grosskreutz not even able to play for the Super Lig heavyweights yet! Sneijder still thinks he’s world-class, pinging balls all over the pitch (usually out of play!), and poor Umut Bulut and Burak Yilmaz have to feed off scraps. This is not a great Galatasaray team and they’re finally getting results that their poor displays have earned. They defend haphazardly at the best of times and they’re not as good as they used to be so how they hope to win here, I don’t know.

What are the odds on Belozoglu Emre scoring for Istanbul BB against boyhood club today, I wonder? It’d be just like him to nail a free-kick or penalty. Food for thought! Anyway, my call is the home win with draw no bet cover at 9/10 as Galatasaray will have to play ridiculously well to win here.
