I personally loved Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. While I will agree that the engine needs a complete overhaul, the Call of Duty gameplay is certainly at its best in Treyarchfs latest title. You can call it a rehash and an innovation killer, but youfll find it hard to come up with a shooter that is as refined as the Call of Duty franchise. Itfs no surprise then that Activision have confirmed the release of yet another Call of Duty this year, but will it be a next-gen title?
Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg confimred that a new Call of Duty would be releasing at the end of this year, around the same period the publisher has been using as well. Interestingly, Hirshberg also stated that the company doesnft expect this latest entry to do as well as Black Ops 2, which shattered all previous sales records.

Now, while I loved Black Ops 2, I wouldnft exactly call the franchise as a whole ginnovativeh. Activision CFO Dennis Durkin added some clarity to the reasoning behind glowh sales expectations.
gThere is increased volatility this year due to the ongoing console transition, which makes predicting the future more challenging than during normal years in the cycle. For Call of Duty, consistent with our past practices, we are planning for the mainline release in Q4 to be down versus 2012.h
Now that poses an interesting question; are Activision going to bite the bullet and release the next Call of Duty early in the next-gen cycle? This could explain why the publisher doesnft expect the next title to break sales records, regardless of the fact that every annual release has done just that. Microsoft and Sony are both rumoured to release their new consoles at the end of this year, so it could just be a matter of Activision diving in early.
It has already been rumoured that a next-gen Call of Duty title was being developed, so could this be it? No developer was announced for the latest entry, but you can definitely rule Treyarch out considering they released Black Ops 2 three months ago. That leaves four other developers who could be working on a next-gen Call of Duty, namely Sledgehammer Games, Infinity Ward, Raven Software and Neversoft Entertainment.
Itfs a risky strategy in terms of a loss in sales, but itfs not like Activision is posting losses every year now is it. Expect more on this very soon.

Neversoft posted on their website that they are currently working on a new Call of Duty game in the Call of Duty Franchise.[1]
Neversoft also replied to a tweet saying "we r working on unannounced FPS. Will announce sometime next year...we think :)"[2]
SLEDGEHAMMER IN DEVELOPMENT OF CURRENT GEN CALL OF DUTY GAME
Sledgehammer posted a job listing saying that they needed a a Senior FX Artist to "create the most exceptional real-time effects with hyper realism for our next Call of Duty game" and that they must have a "solid professional experience and knowledge of the limitations and performance of current generation hardware (360, PS3)". The job listing has now been removed.[3]
Sledgehammer also posted on their website that their "next project is going to be bigger and more ambitious than ever."[4]
INFO ABOUT NEXT CALL OF DUTY APPARENTLY LEAKED
According to an anonymous source, the next Call of Duty will still be in the Modern Warfare arc and features a new character called Ben Burke who apparently "is a a battle hardened veteran in his mid-thirties with a nihilistic point of view." Lines from a flashback scene in Somalia featuring John "Soap" MacTavish also appeared:
"Reminds you of Phuket, doesn¡¯t it? Only this time the dust gives you cancer¡ OK, park yourself and get ready. When this thing kicks off, put a hole in anything that moves." "This is Sentinel Zero One, successful crypto change on C2 net break, requesting immediate update of blue force picture and status of artillery, over. I have you broken and unreadable, I say again, requesting updates to friendly positions and status of arty support. Do you read, over?" "We¡¯ve got KVA on the move! INFINITY WARD HIRING FOR NEXT GEN GAME
Infinity Ward posted a job listing hiring for an employee to "design and implement high level network code for an exciting unannounced title for next generation console systems". The Job Listing has now been removed.[6]
CALL OF DUTY 10 APPEARS ON AMAZON
Call of Duty 10 has shown up on the German Amazon. The listing states the game will be on PC, PS3 and 360.[7]

Activision have confirmed in a Q4 conference call that "The Call of Duty franchise continues to set the bar for innovation and we expect the new Call of Duty game in development for 2013 to raise that bar even higher." [8]

Call of Duty 2013[1] (also known as Call of Duty 10) is the tenth main Call of Duty game. It is suspected of being developed by Sledgehammer Games[2] and Neversoft.[3][4]
On January 24th 2013 a listing for "Call of Duty 10" appeared on Amazon.[5][6]
On February 7th 2013 Activision confirmed that a Call of Duty game was in development and would be released in Q4 2013.[7]

Call of Duty serisi şu ana kadar çok sayıda geliştiricinin elinden geçti. Şu ana kadar serinin ana geliştiricileri Infinity Ward ve Treyarch olsa da bu seri farklı platformlara farklı geliştiriciler tarafından aktarıldı.
Activision'a bağlı geliştiricilerden biri olan Neversoft'ın resmi sitesindeki iş ilanları bölümünde Call of Duty logosu dikkat çekiyor. Bunun anlamı Neversoft'un da bu ünlü seriye dahil olmasıdır diyebiliriz.
