Sledgehammer Beta Participants,
Autodesk is proud to announce that today AutoCAD for Mac is now shipping in the US, Canada and much of Europe. Thank you all for your important contribution to making this a successful product. As we close out the Sledgehammer Beta Project I would like to update you all on a few matters:
Sledgehammer Beta Program Closure
The Sledgehammer Beta Program will close officially today, Friday 10/15. The forums will be set to read-only shortly, and all other discussion should migrate to the AutoCAD for Mac Discussion Group which launched this morning.
AutoCAD for Mac Discussion Group
A newly created “AutoCAD for Mac” discussion group has just been created under the “AutoCAD Topic Specific” category. Topics ranging from trackpad Multi-Touch devices, to native Mac OS X design, to supported Mac hardware are all great topics for this group. Many of the components of AutoCAD for Mac are shared with its Windows counterpart and to avoid bifurcating those discussions, we ask that you please discuss those components in the appropriate group. For example, most in-canvas behavior is shared between AutoCAD and AutoCAD for Mac so please direct that discussion to the “Drafting Techniques” group as appropriate. If it happened to be a Mac specific variant on drafting techniques, then that discussion would belong in this group.
AutoCAD Futures Beta Program
You will all shortly receive an invitation to become a member of the AutoCAD Futures Beta Program. This program is a release independent place for forward-looking discussions that take place under the Beta Non-disclosure Agreement. Discussions of features for future releases may start in this forum. We typically use this audience for Service Pack Beta testing and sometimes recruiting for release specific beta programs. I encourage you all to be a member of this program.
Beta Challenge Prizes
My apologies for the delay of prizes for those of you that participated and won the Beta Challenges. By now, all of the winners should have been notified and prizes are in transit. Given all of the rapid development we were doing during this time I might have missed someone. If you feel like you are entitled to a prize that you have not yet received and you haven’t already received a communication from me, please email rob.maguire@autodesk.com and we can sort it out from there.
Gold Program
For those of you who are members of the Gold Program, expect a communication from me in the next few weeks about wrapping up the program. Thanks again for your participation.
Beta Program Offer
As a member of the Sledgehammer Beta Program, you will be entitled to some special offers and discounts off of the standard pricing for AutoCAD for Mac. Expect a communication from our marketing department in the next couple of weeks.
AutoCAD for Mac Trial Version Available
For those of you curious on how the final version turned out, or if you want to send a link to your friends and show them all the good work you have done, the AutoCAD 2011 for Mac trial is now available here:www.autodesk.com/autocadmactrial.
