Stronghold: Warlords - Yoritomo AI, New Maps & Rise of the Shogun DLC! fireflyworldsyoutube Now Available - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1615012/
We have just released our new v1.9 update for Stronghold: Warlords, which includes the Minamoto no Yoritomo AI opponent, extra achievements, new maps and an increased total troop limit in offline skirmish mode of up to 1,000 units!
This free update has been released alongside the launch of our Rise of the Shogun Campaign DLC, which adds six missions and two warlords to the Stronghold: Warlords base game. Both the update and DLC are now available on Steam and GOG, with a 10% launch week discount for Rise of the Shogun.
Yoritomo AI & New Maps (Version 1.9)
Founder and first shogun of the Kamakura shogunate, Yoritomo constructs his fortifications in the Japanese style, leading his forces with the bravado expected of feudal Japan’s centre of power. With a distinctive H-shaped castle, Yoritomo shores up his defences using a mix of tower types, as well as using plenty of Mangonel turrets, allowing him to strike first in a short-range siege.
Yoritomo uses his positive Fear Factor to boost an army favouring mounted Samurai Lancers, Auxiliary Cavalry, Archers and Sōhei Warrior Monks. These are dangerous units in his hands, but ones still vulnerable to a range of strategies and thus opening Yoritomo up to effectively-timed counterattacks. It’s also worth noting that Yoritomo stays away from trebuchets, meaning players can employ these as a defensive measure and strike first, when they find themselves besieged.
While Minamoto no Yoritomo is the headline feature here, three new maps also make their debut in version 1.9:
Open Borders - A large map capable of hosting 6 players, with just 2 warlords to fight over. Here each Lord will need to build their castle well, as the lack of hard borders will require fully fortified defences.
Forest Clearing - A medium sized 5 player map with almost as many warlords to conquer and command. In this map rival lords will peer through a thick forest surrounding them to see a deceptively clear battleground, only to discover the dangers they must prepare for.
Winding Path - With space for three players and warlords. Here three lords battle to hold strategic positions. The eventual victor will identify the correct tactical choices at the most opportune moments during a game, emerging victorious by taking the advantages on offer.
Rise of the Shogun Campaign (DLC)
Charting a course through history from the Battle of Uji in 1180 AD to the culmination of the Genpei War, Rise of the Shogun Campaign provides players with six new historical missions set across a decisive period of Japanese medieval history. With tales of warring clans, fragile alliances, betrayals and murdered royalty, Rise of the Shogun brings a bloody chapter of history to life while testing the skills of veteran Stronghold players.
Expanding the main single player campaign, this new campaign DLC depicts five pivotal years of political conflict across six new missions. Experience Yoritomo's life as an accomplished military leader as you cement the power of the samurai, found the Kamakura shogunate and begin the feudal age of Japan! As part of this campaign, The Rise of the Shogun DLC also introduces two new controllable AI warlords available in skirmish mode and online multiplayer.
As a master of deception, playing against a rival Snake Warlord means keeping careful watch over your stronghold. Ninjas striking from the shadows are one thing, but with a unique perk that boosts the attacking power of these stealthy units a Snake can be a powerful and underhanded foe. In the hands of a capable player however these covert attacks can be a vital tool, keeping your enemies on edge at all times.
While not quite as devious as the Snake, the Grasshopper Warlord can prove just as fast and effective for targeting rival player economies. With a perk that can boost Spirit and the ability to round out your peasants medieval diet with some much needed vegetables, the Grasshopper is definitely not one to underestimate in the economic war that underpins each conflict.
